Shanti’s and my thoughts and prayers have long been with Win Rockefeller and his family. Arkansans had hoped and prayed for a better outcome from his treatment. His passing today means we have lost a truly caring public official who made a difference for all Arkansans. Arkansas is fortunate to have had Win for as long as we have. He will surely be missed. Shanti and I extend our condolences to his family, friends and staff members.

The Arkansas AFL-CIO today endorsed Bill Halter over runoff opponent Tim Wooldridge for Lt. Governor.

Alan Hughes and various labor leaders joined Bill Halter this morning at his campaign headquarters to announce the endorsment. Labor's support will add significant organizational strength to Halter's campaign.

"I am grateful for the support of the AFL-CIO as well as the working men and women they represent," remarked Halter.

The primary runoff election is Tuesday, June 13th.

Halter’s plan, Arkansas’ Best Chance – Universal Pre-Kindergarten (ABC-UPK), builds upon the state’s highly-successful current program, Arkansas Better Chance, to include all 3- and 4-year olds from low-income families. Halter, 45, will marry Shanti Patching, 33, of Elk Grove, CA in a traditional Catholic ceremony at Stanford University's Memorial Chapel.

About 125 friends and family members are expected to attend the service this afternoon in Palo Alto, CA.
